Customer Case Study: Produce Supplier Gets Control of Daily Deliveries
Business Problem:
A Produce distribution company needs to provide daily shipments of goods from multiple warehouses across the U.S. to multiple Wal-Mart distribution centers. The fluctuation of supply and demand in this industry is extremely volatile and forces the requirement for immediate visibility and quick response to the retailer.
Old Process:
Prior to SecureSheet™, the sales department would process orders manually and then try to determine where to source the items. They could source from existing warehouses and/or suppliers. Once sourced, order information would need to be communicated to Transportation for delivery scheduling, the Warehouse for shipping, Replenishment for inbound processing and, finally, Accounting to keep track of sales and cost information. This entire process was managed by manual spreadsheets , emails and phone calls between all the parties.
New Process:
Now, with SecureSheet, the Sales department is able to enter the orders on an online daily delivery schedule. This schedule is now immediately available over the web to the other locations and departments to help them plan and execute to the schedule. Status information is kept current by each of the responsible parties until delivery is made. Because of this improved performance, this company is now planning on moving into Direct Store Delivery in the future.
Benefits:
By implementing SecureSheet, this customer has achieved significant improvements in their daily delivery process. Each department now has access to the most current data thus driving to:
- Improved on-time delivery
- Better fill rates
- Fewer returns
- New sales opportunities
